Earworx was established in 2016 by Lisa Hellwege, a registered nurse with extensive experience in aural care and ENT. The aim behind Earworx was to address and prevent impacted and built-up earwax that was causing discomfort to patients. The safe, gentle and effective micro-suction technique used at Earworx clinics around Australia has driven the success and growth of Earworx over the years.

When you visit our Jerrabomberra clinic, located just twenty minutes from the centre of Canberra, you’ll be treated by our friendly and attentive nurse, Samantha Stening.
Samantha has worked in the health industry since 2007, making her experienced and capable tending to patients of all ages with a variety needs. Her early career was in the aged care field, which means she has a strong background working with older patients.
Samantha has a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Southern Queensland, and is a member of the Australian Practice Nurse Association.
Samantha joined Earworx in 2020, stating “I am looking forward to developing a great rapport with my patients and providing the best possible experience for them that I can.” Samantha’s patients quickly feel at ease thanks to her warm and friendly demeanour.
When she’s not working at our Jerrabomberra Earworx clinic, she spends her time bush walking and dining out with friends.
How the Earworx Procedure Works
Our Earworx clinics use micro-suction and curettage to gently extract excess, impacted earwax from your ear in a vacuum-like manner. Our qualified, experienced nurses are equipped with ‘loupes’, which are magnifying glasses fitted with a bright light. This allows our nurses to maintain vision of your ear canal to ensure utmost safety throughout the procedure.

Why You Might Need Earwax Removal
When earwax functions healthily, it helps keep your ear canal clean and protected. However, excess or impacted earwax can lead to discomfort, tinnitus or even hearing loss.
Those who wear hearing aids or earphones, work in dusty environments, are genetically predisposed to excessive earwax production, or swim and dive regularly are typically at a higher risk of having earwax problems.
Our standard rate for our earwax removal procedure is $120 and our concession rate is $95. The concession price applies to veterans, pensioners and health care card holders.
If earwax needs to be softened before being extracted, the procedure may require two appointments. However, the second appointment, after wax has been softened, is free of charge.
If no excess wax is found in your ear at your appointment, then a 50% reduced rate will apply.
Why Choose Us?
Because earwax removal is our core business, all our nurses have extensive, daily experience in relieving patients from built-up, impacted wax. This means you are in capable and qualified hands at every Earworx clinic.
The micro-suction procedure is a safe and effective earwax removal method – it is the same method used by Ear Nose and Throat specialists across Australia
