These Terms and Conditions May Change
Earworx reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Consent for Treatment
Verbal consent is sufficient for removal of ear wax by Earworx nurses using micro suction and curette technology.
By attending consultation with our nurse, your consent for examination and treatment is implied. Consent for treatment of minors, the intellectually disabled or others not considered legally competent to make decisions on their own behalf, will be obtained from a parent, guardian or attorney (as appropriate) who must be in attendance at time of consultation or provide written consent if unable to attend.
Complications of ear wax removal with micro suction and curettage are uncommon. Possible complications, side-effects and material risks inherent in the procedure include:
- Incomplete removal of ear wax, requiring return visit. Reasons include:
- severely impacted wax
- unable to maintain direct vision
- wax may be pushed further down the canal
- Trauma including canal trauma, perforation of the ear drum and minor bleeding
- Increased tinnitus
- Hearing Loss
- Vertigo and Nausea
Where wax has not been softened adequately, or the Registered Nurse deems the procedure unsafe, wax may not be able to be removed at all. Referral to an ENT specialist may be recommended.
Our Registered Nurses have completed a Nationally Accredited Course in Micro-Suction and Aural Hygiene and a Course in Aural Care training for Ear Wax Removal using micro suction and curettage. The procedure is performed under direct visualisation using microscopic vision via specialised glasses called loupes.
To ensure the risk of complication is minimised, it is essential that accurate past medical history is supplied to our nurses. In addition, it is important that you remain relatively still during the procedure as sudden movement may significantly increase the risk of Ear Drum Perforation, Permanent Hearing Loss and/ or Bleeding.
If you are found to have no wax in your ears at the time of your appointment, a 50% refund will be offered on the fee paid.
If your wax is very impacted and dry, it may not be able to be removed in one visit. You will be sent away for softening and a second visit may be required. Return visits are charged at the discretion of the Registered Nurse.
Earworx uses the Westpac PayWay payment system. This is both to protect you as PayWay is renowned for its simple and secure payment and for the security of our Nurses who will not hold cash at the clinic. Payment is made via credit card on the day of your appointment. If you have paid for your booking over the phone prior to your appointment, and wish to not re-book the appointment or to cancel your appointment, a refund can be made over the phone (see cancellation policy below)
Receipts from Earworx for payments at the time of booking are electronic and a receipt is provided.
We understand that sometimes you need to change your schedule and we ask that you:
Give us 24 hours notice so we can let someone else into your time slot
If less than 24 hours notice is given a 50% fee may be charged
If you do not attend or give notice of cancellation of your appointment we hold the right to charge you the full amount of the service booked
