A build up of earwax is more common than you may think. In fact, one in 10 children and one in 20 adults suffer from excessive earwax!
Since Earworx was established five years ago, our clinics have expanded and are currently opening right across Australia. Today, we deliver safe and effective earwax removal through treatment from our experienced registered nurses.
Our team uses the same techniques employed by ear, nose, and throat specialist doctors. Micro-suction and curettage is considered a safe and effective way to remove excess earwax; it is a water free, gentle way to remove built up earwax using fine instruments and suction.
Our Friendly Team
When you visit our Carrum Downs clinic, you will be treated by Registered Nurse Tania Moore. Tania is an experienced and passionate healthcare provider with years of experience working in a variety of settings.
Tania has across multiple areas including endoscopy, laser and as a bank nurse working in different areas for Peninsula Health. Through these roles she learned to work independently within her scope, to be flexible, to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, and to both promote and encourage effective communication. Explaining complex procedures to patients was also an essential skill; one that is valued within Earworx clinics nationwide.
Tania always ensures that her patients’ clinical and emotional needs are met, and is passionate about patient education.
Having worked across many sites in Melbourne over her career, Tania is experienced working with a range of people from different backgrounds. She is well equipped to work with the community of Carrum Downs and to make you feel at ease as she gently and effectively removes your excess ear wax and provides you with relief from an ear blocked with wax.
The Earworx Procedure Works
When you come to our Carrum Downs clinic, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire. Your specially trained Earworx registered nurse will then run through the questionnaire with you, answer any questions you may have, and perform an ear examination. If it is determined that ear wax removal is clinically indicated, fine instruments and gentle suction, or ‘micro-suction’, will be used to remove any excess wax. The procedure is all performed under direct observation, enhancing safety.
Our registered nurses know how to make you feel comfortable and answer and alleviate any concerns that you may have.
Why You Need Ear Wax Removal
There are a variety of reasons for why you should see us. Excess earwax can be uncomfortable and even lead to hearing loss.
Some people are more prone to the impacts of excessive earwax than others. Should you experience any of the below symptoms, an ear examination is recommended.
You should consider making an appointment if you:
- Work in a dusty environment
- Wear hearing aids
- Know that excessive wax production ‘runs in your family’
- Spend time swimming or in the water
- Have narrow, curvy or hairy ear canals
- Use cotton buds or other similar objects in your ear
- Wear ear plugs or ear bud headphones on a regular basis.
We will take the time to discuss the treatment and take extra care when working on your ears.
Our standard procedure rate is $120 at our Carrum Downs clinic. Concession card holders, like students, pensioners, veterans, and health care card holders can access the service for $95.
In addition, we do not charge if you need to return for a second appointment following softening. We also offer a $55 reduced pricing for patients where no wax is found.
All our fees are partly rebatable through private health funds ‘St Lukes Health’ and ‘HCI’. .
For all rebate enquiries, please contact St Lukes, HCI or your health care provider directly.
