One in ten children and one in 20 adults suffer from a build-up of ear wax. While a healthy amount of ear wax may protect the skin in our ears and prevent infections, excessive wax can become a problem.
Founded in 2016, Earworx uses similar techniques to other ear, nose and throat specialists. Our curettage and micro-suction procedures are safe, pain-free and produce outstanding results.
Our Friendly Team
When you attend our Newcastle Clinic, our registered nurse, Jordan Wallace will take care of you. Jordan is a nurse with practical experience as a team leader in a busy hospital environment. During this experience, Jordan oversaw 32 beds in the orthopaedic and trauma ward, and was responsible for managing up to eight nurses at any given time.
She also has experience working in infection control. In this role, she provided training support to three different hospitals in the Hunter region. Her positive energy is also matched by her excellent qualifications. Jordan holds current accreditation and a Bachelor of Nursing from The University of Newcastle. She also takes the time to focus on your needs through her precise work.
How the Earworx Procedure Works
We take the time to examine your ears and assess for wax build up, particularly around the eardrum.
If you need one of our ear extraction procedures, our friendly nurse will use a pair of ‘loupes’. These are quite similar to binoculars with a light attached to the top, and it helps our nurses have the best view of your ear canals.
The process then involves a gentle micro-suction procedure and curettage to safely clean any blockages from each of your ears.
Why You Might Need Ear Wax Removal
Excess ear wax can cause an uncomfortable sensation and even lead to hearing loss for some.
Depending on what you do for work, or your interests, there are a range of reasons why you should see us. If your activities include swimming, surfing, listening to music through headphones, working in a dusty environment, or if you use hearing aids, then our services will be highly beneficial.
Our approach will help ease the pressure in your ears and minimise any future problems.
We remove your ear wax for a flat rate of $120 at our Newcastle clinic. We are also proud to offer a $95 rate for concession, veterans, pensioners and health care card holders.
We also do not charge you if you require a second appointment. All fees are partly rebatable through St Luke’s Health (provider number A4001013) or your health care insurance, depending on what level of cover you have.
If our team do not find any wax in your ears, we also offer a 50 per cent reduced rate. For all rebate enquiries, please contact St Luke’s or your health care provider directly.
